A museum an hour away from central Tokyo that director Miyazaki Hayao visited often for Ghibli movie inspirations. It preserves historical Japanese buildings, some over 100 years old, which are original structures carefully disassembled, moved, and reconstructed here. It costs 400 yen to enter. You can find an old stationery shop that inspired Kamaji's boiler room and a yellow train like the one in Spirited Away. There's also a restaurant where you can eat the classic noodle dish Miyazaki ate and see his original Totoro sketch and signature.
