Taiwan's Hot Air Balloon Festival takes place here almost every day in the summer. Free entry, shuttle transport available from Taitung and Luye. Sunrise launches 5:30–7:00am. Tethered balloon rides available for NT$500 (book online, only 100 spots/day). Bring a blanket to sit on the hill. Night glow festival happens a few times over the summer with balloons lighting up in sync, fireworks overhead, and a wild drone show.
